The System Doesn’t Represent Me
Growing up with a hyperactive imagination, I understand what it feels like to be an outsider. Some of us just see society a little differently, and it’s important there’s a voice for those individuals.
A lot of people aren’t allowed to live to their fullest potential cause they get trapped in the system. It’s easy to fall in some annoying and paralyzing pitfalls, so here’s a couple of tips to avoid them:
1. Have the courage to be an individual. Ever notice how everyone in your circle is going in one direction, but inside you feel that you have to go another way, even though it would feel good to go with your friends? Go with your gut. That’s where the world is directing you.
2. Avoid debt. Most young people get so strapped with debt at a young age that they can’t go for what they want when they get older, they have to immediately get a job. Although borrowing money is sometimes necessary, here’s a couple of reminders:
-Get health insurance. If you get sick, you could owe the medical establishment for a long time.
-Understand your student loans. Student loans never go away, even if you file for bankruptcy. Those puppies are with you for life. If you do borrow money for school, take the time to understand them and pick the choice that best benefits you. Also, it’s OK to be unsure what you want to do with the rest of your life when you’re young. If you’re not feeling school and you feel like you’re going to quit, have the courage to take a year off and enter the workforce. A young person working full time is impressive, and you won’t be a loser and you can go back, despite what your guidance counselor says.
-Avoid trouble with the law. Like it or not, the powers that be view you as a source of revenue. When you get in trouble they’re going to take as much of your money as they can.
- Don’t have a baby if you’re not ready. Dude, birth control, that’s all.
Lets rise up.
