NBC Needs Laborliss

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments

Breaking in to the entertainment field is next to impossible. Networks won’t look at your material unless it comes from an agent, but obtaining an agent is no easy task, sometimes you can get lucky and get a query letter response, but usually you need a referral. Not fun.

Back when I was developing Laborliss, I wrote a bunch of stories and posted them on this website. There’s about 150 of them total and the first 33 were published in a paperback earlier this year. That leaves a lot of stories about the Laborliss characters laying around waiting to be converted to a television show.

In early ‘07, I also started making a flier that evolved to Laborliss Magazine. It’s a fictional lifestyle magazine written from the point of view of the Laborliss citizens. It floats around the Phoenix area and has become popular, like really popular.

Think about that, when these companies hire creative people to come up with ideas for shows, they want them to make something that people are going to like, and I’m already doing that! Talk about frustrating.

About a year and a half ago, I queried about 100 literary agents and got lots of rejection, so I started my own LLC and have been doing everything under that since. I’m glad I did, but it’s fucking retarded.

Anyway, with GE’s current stock price, NBC could use a hit show, and although this is a very lofty dream, I’m going to attempt it. I’m starting the NBC needs Laborliss campaign.

Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest is definitely my favorite rapper. He’s arguably one of the most influential rappers ever. He helped define alternative hip hop. I should stop listening to his music (his new album is stellar) and work on my own projects.

I learned that all you have to do to make friends is make people feel good about themselves.

Sacajowea is one of my favorite words to say. I’ve been saying it since I learned about her in like 5th grade. I’m 25.

I love the world and I want you to love it as well. I feel there should be more attention placed on the hidden perils of society, like bad people, decision making, having low esteem, not sure what you want to do in life, etc., rather than the mainstream concerns like drinking and pot use.

More sophisticated posts to hopefully come soon. Laborliss Magazine has consumed my life. I still love you though.

Camera Radar is the most fraudulent device known to human beings. DPS officials claim they are about safety but the cameras are being used as a way to increase revenue for the city. In the Greater Phoenix Area, 40,000 tickets were issued in the past two months, all about $170 per ticket. This is extremely unethical considering it takes money out of the working classes’ pockets. Talk about war on the middle class!

Luckily, an activist program has been formed. www.camerafraud.com is working to stop this greedy violation of privacy.

Nearly everyone I’ve talked to has been affected by these cash cameras. If you get caught going 11 miles over, you get sent a ticket for about $170 in the mail, with the option of taking a class of equal amount which will erase the citation from your record.

Personally, I’m going to do whatever I can to stop these things. Everyone speeds every once in a while, but to get a $170 ticket every time and not even know it until you open your mailbox? Things have gone too far.
